Newburgh Rescue Supply is owned and operated by Vincent H. Favoino, known as MICKEY. He started NEWBURGH RESCUE SUPPLY in 1973 on a, then, part time basis, dealing mainly with EMS equipment although his goal was always to gear the business toward Technical Rescue. As time passed and static ropes were developed for rescue, Newburgh Rescue Supply was in the forefront of training and supplying this rescue equipment as well as that for water, ice, confined space rigging, search & rescue and related EMS. Mickey began his interest in rope and rescue as a Boy Scout, attaining the rank of EAGLE. He retired from the US Army National Guard as a Sergeant First Class (E-7) after 24 years as a Combat Medic (91-B) and was responsible for 5 companies of medics in 3 different armories by the end of his career. In addition, he held specialties in Firefighting, Clinical Specialist (Practical Nurse) and Fire Direction Coordinator (artillery). Part of his career was spent attached to the 10th Mountain Division, famed for their winter maneuvers and high angle training. He has been a volunteer firefighter in his community since 1967 and is a life member of Winona Lake Engine Company #2 (Newburgh, NY). He was first certified as a NYS Emergency Medical Technician in 1973 and has maintained that certification, having served the local volunteer ambulance corps for years. He has worked as an adjunct instructor for the New York State Fire Academy, teaching Ice Rescue, Swift Water Rescue and Intermediate & Advanced Rope Rescue. He, and a staff of instructors, offer a variety of rescue courses which can be customized to your needs. Mickey and other members of his staff have taken part in numerous manufacturer’s training conferences to insure that the information they have about any equipment is the most accurate and up to date available. It is our policy that our staff take part in a minimum of one hands-on training program annually. In addition, Mickey has taken part in R& D for a variety of pieces of rescue equipment. He also has taught Search & Rescue for the New York Guard, to which he belonged for a number of years, including 2001 when he was activated for a number of months following 9/11. He is a founding member of New York Search & Rescue, an active team, with a number of additional certifications. His Ham Radio call sign is K2NRS. Mickey is often joined in teaching by his daughter, Amanda, a graduate of Union College in Schenectady, NY and Craig Prior, a recipient of FIREFIGHTER of THE YEAR award for his efforts in a high angle rescue as well as years of training and instructing rope, water and ice rescue. We have tried for years to provide our customers with the best quality rescue equipment available on the market. To this end, we stock products from all the major manufacturers of Technical Rescue Equipment in the US and other major European manufacturers. We do not substitute, nor recommend the use of substandard equipment because we firmly believe that not only the life of the victim, but also the life of the rescuer are far more valuable than cutting costs by using equipment which is not appropriately tested.
